What To Do With Your Scraps Card #1

Do you have a lot of scrap paper?  Is is plain card stock or Designer Series Paper?  What do you do with the scraps?

My friend, Stacy, has been asking me these very questions.  She suggested I do a class and show them how to make cards with just scrap pieces of paper.  Do I have a lot of scraps?  ABSOLUTELY!!! That is why this class was good for me too. I get to create 5 cards and use up some of my scrap pieces of paper!  It was a win win situation!  Over the next week or so you will get to see all the cards we made at class last night.

This first card I had made this style a long time ago and thought it was a perfect design to use up my birthday paper from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack.  I read on a blog, I don't remember which one, that it is the easiest to glue down the bottom layer of the presents first and then the Designer Series Paper.  I totally agree, it was much easier.  I used the word window punch and the stamp set And Many More and they are both on the retirement list.  If you want to buy this very useful punch or stamp set, order it soon or it might be gone.  Don't forget to use the hostess code below.

Here are the measurements for this card:

Pool Party Card Stock #322924

  • 5 1/5" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • 1 1/8" x 2 1/8"
  • 1 5/8" x 2 5/8"
  • 2 1/8" x 3 1/8"

Cherry On Top Designer Series Stack #138443

  • 1" x 2"
  • 1 1/2" x 2 1/2"
  • 2" x 3"
  • 4" x 5 1/4"

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • 4" x 5 1/4" - this is used for the inside of the card
  • scrap piece for the saying

For the inside of the card I used the Balloon Celebration stamp set to stamp balloons on the white card stock and the envelope.  I used cucumber crush, daffodil delight and watermelon wonder for the balloons.  I used the #01 pen from the Project Life Journaling Pens to make the strings from the balloons.  I tried to put a loop in my strings to match the one on the biggest package on front.

You can use so many different designs of paper to make this card. You could make it masculine, for kids, for babies, really for anyone.   What kind of card are you going to make with your scraps?

Thank you for stopping by today and have a great weekend!

Happy Stampin!

Who Wants the New Stampin' Up Catalog?

I do, I do!!!!  Look at all the fun stuff on the cover!!! Wait to you see what's inside!  The image isn't the greatest as I had to enlarge it from a really small picture.

So Who Wants the New Stampin' Up! Catalog?  I do mail out catalogs to my wonderful customers who are outside of the Dayton area, or hand deliver them to the ones in our area.  Here's how to ensure you will be receiving a catalog form me.
  • If you have ordered in the last 6 months, you will be getting a catalog from me!!! It is my way of saying I LOVE YOU!!
  • If you have not ordered in the last 6 months, you still have a couple of days to do so!  We have a lot of great stamps, embellishments, tools, punches, dies and so much more.  You will want to get the ones on the RETIREMENT LIST before they are gone and don't forget to check out the CLEARANCE RACK!  I am sure there is SOMETHING you need, right?
I will be placing my catalogs to be mailed out on the 30th, so you still have a couple of days to place an order to make sure you receive a catalog!
I will have the catalogs to hand out at my first Stamp Camp on May 17th.  I can't wait to see what you think of the new catalog!

Where's My Stamping Fairy?

Do you ever have those days where you know you need to get something done and things keep getting in your way?  Well, I have had about 5 of those days.  I was really hoping the stamping fairy would come and help me, but she must be on vacation!  Maybe Tinker Bell could give her some pixie dust to help me out.  Wouldn't that be nice, sprinkle some magic dust and everything is done for you.  LOL

As you can tell from my picture above I have been trying to stamp whenever I get a free minute.  I think in the last few days, it might have been about 5 minutes.  If you look real close to the paper on my trimmer you will get a little peek at one of the cards I am working on for my What To Do With My Scraps Class on Friday.  You can also see I have my favorite drink on my desk too, COFFEE!!  I think I might need a couple extra cups today.  Haha

If anyone knows me, they know I am usually very organized and a head of schedule.  I am just starting to work on my cards today for my class on Friday.  I always said to myself, I will never wait until the last minute to design my cards.  Never say never!  It is going to be an even busier than normal couple of days, but I am excited to be able to start creating and stamping for this class.

I will have all the cards from the class for you on my blog this weekend and next week.  Thank you for being patient with me.

Have a great day and thank you for stopping by!!

Happy Stampin!

Fun with the Grand Randall's!!!!!

I absolutely love this picture!!!  They all have the best smiles.  Last Saturday I was able to take Beckett and Brielle to see Emily at BGSU (Bowling Green State University).

Beckett and Brielle are from a special family in my daycare (I also take care of their younger sister, Blysse).  Shortly after I started taking care of Beckett they started going to church with us. For some reason, some people at church thought Todd (their dad) was our son. We love their whole family as if they are part of our family, that we just say yes he is.  Even my girls call him their brother and the kids their nieces and nephew.  How sweet is that!  We call the children our grand Randall's.  What a great name for them - Randall is their last name and they are like our grandchildren.  We are the ones blessed to have them in our lives.

Emily is graduating in a couple of weeks and she has been wanting me to bring up the kids to see the college campus and where she is student teaching.  It worked out great for me to take them up last weekend and I couldn't have asked for better behaved kids.  We had so much fun!

Here are some pictures of our weekend together.

Here they are standing in front of Williams Hall.

Another one of the three of them together

At the playground at the school Emily is student teaching.

Posing at Panera (aren't they adorable)

It was a great weekend to get away and have some fun.  It was definitely good for my mood!

Have a great day and thank you for stopping by!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful mom!!!!!

Today is my sweet mom's birthday!!!!!  I wish I could  be with her, but I will get to see her in June for a couple of days.  I try to talk to my mom everyday and sometimes multiple times a day.  She is my best friend and means the world to me!  Sometimes it is very hard being 8 hours away from family and this is one of those times.  Roses are my mom's favorite flower, so of course I used the Rose Wonder stamp set and matching framelits to make this special card for her.

I saw this technique on a fellow demonstrators blog, Dawn Griffith, and fell in love with it.  I used the Crystal Effects to give it a glossy look.  It is hard to see in the photo, but it is absolutely beautiful in person.

Dawn used black card stock for her outline, and if anyone knows my mom, knows she HATES the color black.  I tried different combinations of colors and ended up liking the melon mambo and mossy meadow colors together best.

To make this card you will need the following measurements:

Melon Mambo card stock #115320

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/5" score at 4 1/4"
  • a piece of paper to cut out the big rose framelit

Mossy Meadow card stock #133676

  • cut two pieces at 4 x 5 1/4" - one for the front and one for the inside
  • a piece of paper to cut out the big rose framelit

Pink Pirouette card stock #111351

  • a scrap piece of paper for the saying

Watercolor Paper#122959

  • cut at 3 3/4" x 5"

Whisper White card stock #100730

  • cut at 3 3/4" x 5" this is for the inside of your card

To make this card I cut out 2 roses from the Rose Garden framelits.  Cut one from melon mambo and one from the mossy meadow card stock.  Lay them on top of each other, make sure they are lined up, and cut them both at the same time.  You will want to cut where they leaves meet the flower.

I used the Basic Gray Archival Ink and stamped the image on the Watercolor Paper.  I used Pink Pirouette and Pear Pizzazz to watercolor the flower and leaves.  You need to let it dry completely before doing the next step.

Using Crystal Effects outline the stamped image, make sure you put it on all of the lines of the image.  Lay the outline on top of the stamped image.  I used my paper piercing tool to push down the cut image into the Crystal Effects.  One it is secure fill all the open area with the Crystal Effects.  You will need to let the drive for quite a while.  I let mine dry overnight.

I used fast fuse adhesive to attach the watercolor paper to the green paper.  You are going to need a strong adhesive to make sure it stays attached.  I then stamped and cut out the saying from the same stamp set.

Here is the picture of the inside of the card.

I used this flower to also stamp in the outside of the envelope.  I try to make sure I decorate my envelope when I make my cards.   Just a little something to make it look pretty.

This is the same card that I demonstrated at a workshop using pink pirouette and black.  These are the same colors that Dawn had used on her sample.  Thank you Dawn for sharing your design with us!

I hope my mom has a fabulous day and likes her card.  Love you mom!!!!!

Have a fantastic day!

Happy Stampin!

Tag Talk Birthday Card

I definitely haven't used the stamp set Tag Talk  in a very long time.  I am not quite sure why, as I like it and it has a coordinating punch. This is an easy peasy card.  I made a lot of them using the different stamps in the set and different colors of ribbon.  This is a great way to use up retired ribbon.

You only need to cut three pieces of paper for this card.

Black Card Stock #121045

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut 2 pieces of 4" x 5 1/4" one for the front and one for the inside of the card
  • scrap piece for stamping your image

I used the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder to give texture to this card. You can any embossing folder you would like.  You can make so many different designs with this card just by changing the embossing folder.

I used the Birthday Blossoms stamp set to put some flowers in the inside of the card and envelope.  This is what the inside looks like.

Thank you for stopping by today.  I hope everyone has a blessed day!

Happy Stampin!

Polka Dot Kinda Eclectic Card

Here's my card that I used Calypso Coral ink and paper on.  I am in love, did I say love, with this color.  I even went looking for a purse in Calypso Coral.  I think I might have a problem.  LOL I still haven't found one I like, but I will keep looking.  Gives me an excuse to have to go shop!  I like that!!!

I have used the Kinda Eclectic stamp set a lot and still love it.  My favorite stamp in the set is the leaves.  They are great to use for backdrops for flowers or just by themselves.

This is another quick card, which my ladies were loving!  I think that was the fastest they have finished at stamp camp.  I didn't mean for them to be all easy cards, it just worked out that way.

To make this card you will need the following items:

So Saffron Card Stock #105118

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" and score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 3 1?8" x 4 3/8"

Calypso Coral Card Stock #122925

  • cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"

Designer Series Paper Stack - Subtles #138437   I used the Wild Wasabi Paper

  • cut at  4" x 5 1/4"

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut at 3" x 4 1/4"
  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4" this is for the inside of the card
  • scrap paper for the flowers

I used stampin' dimensionals under the flowers to give them some height.  I stamped three flowers on the inside of the card and on the envelope.

You can use any color of paper for the background and even the same color, different design a new look. Here is a picture of the stripped Wild Washabi paper instead of the dots.  It changes the look and feel of the card.  Which one is your favorite?

I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!

Happy Stampin!
