June 2016

Denim Dapper Traveler

In June's Stamp Camp this is the card we made for our masculine card.  It was Father's Day time or you could make it a Happy Birthday card.  I am not sure what happened to my picture of the birthday version of this card.  Knowing me I probable deleted it when I was trying to clean out photos as iCloud told me again I was running out of storage.  Grrrrr!

I use the Traveler Stamp Set a lot on masculine cards.  I love the train in this set.  Last year or two years ago I even used this train on a Christmas Card.  I will have to see if I can find it and show it to you!

Stampin' Up! has these wonderful Designer Series Stacks for all the color families.  You get the writing as shown above and on the back of that is the polka dots.  You also get a striped page with the other side having small flowers all over it.  You get 4 different looks with two sheets of paper.  You got to love that!  I used the Dapper Denim out of the 2016-2018 In Color DSP stacks.  You get 40 sheets: 4 each of 2 double-sided designs in all 5 colors and they are 12 x 12 sheets!

The colors I used in this card are Marina Mist and So Saffron.  You will need the following measurements to make this card.

Marina Mist Card Stock #119682

cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

  • cut at 1 1/2" x 4"
  • 3" x  3" for the circle

So Saffron Card Stock #105118

  • cut at 1 /4" x 4"

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut at 3" x 3"
  • a scrap for the banner

2016-2018 In Color Designer Series Paper Stacks #141408

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

I used the 2 1/2" circle punch (which is retired) to punch out the train once it was stamped in Marina Mist on to the 3" x 3" square.  The Marina Mist circle was made by using the Layering Circle Framelits.   The banner was made using the Thoughtful Banner stamp set and cut out using the Duet Banner Punch.  I used dimensionals on the banner and the Marina Mist circle to give the card some dimension.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Floral Boutique Sympathy

Sympathy cards are always hard to make.  You want them to be pretty, but not over the top.  This card is simple, but elegant for a difficult time in someone's life.

I wasn't sure if I would like the Swirly Bird stamp set and matching Swirly Scribbles Thinlets when I first saw them.  They were on our preorder for the new catalog and they really didn't catch my eye. Then I saw other demonstrators using them and fell in love and knew I had to put it on my next order.  Boy, am I glad I did!  I love it now!  Isn't it funny how you don't think you will like a stamp set and then you see others use it and now you have to have it!!  I hope I am not the only one that happens to.  The best thing is you can get them as a bundle and save 10%!!  Yay!!  The flowers were made with our new color Peekaboo Peach and Night of Navy using the Botanical Builder Framelits.   I love these two colors together.  They are so pretty.

You will need the following materials to make this card:

Night of Navy Card Stock #100867

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 1 3/4" x 6" this is for the squiggly lines
  • scrap for the oval and middle of the flowers

Peekaboo Peach Card Stock #141417

  • scrap piece for the flowers

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4" this is for the inside of the card
  • scrap paper to stamp the sentiment on

Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper #141663

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

For the sentiment I used the new stamp set Flourishing Phrases with the Layering Ovals.  I used dimensionals to make it pop on the card.

You might have noticed in my first paragraph where I talked about a preorder for the new catalog.  If anyone is wondering how they can preorder products before they become available to everyone else, the answer is simple.  Become a demonstrator!!!  You get discounts on products, preview new items, wonderful support from your upline and Stampin' Up! and make the best friendship ever!  The most important thing is, you get paid to do what you love!  Stamp and create!  If anyone would like more information, please let me know and I would be happy to help.

Thank you for stopping by today!

Baby Bear - Pink

Oh My Goodness!! How cute is this bear?  I feel in love with him the first time I saw him.  He looks so cuddly, which makes him a perfect stamp for baby cards or young children.  Heck, even for someone who loves teddy bears at any age.

The first time I tried to make this card, I will be honest, I got very frustrated!  I couldn't get him lined up correctly, so it would come out blurry.  This stamp set is a 3 step stamp, which means you stamp him 3 different time with 3 different stamps.  One stamp is for a light color, one is for medium color and one is for a dark color.  That give the bear a more realistic look and some dimension.

After many tries I was able to line him up because I figured out a little, ok no, a big tip on how to get all 3 stamps to line up correctly. What I was doing was lining up the bottom of the stamps, which is what you need to do.  However, you also need to like up under his armpits, where there is nothing stamped.  If you do that, it will come out perfect.  I really wish I knew that before I tried it 10 times.  LOL

To make this adorable little bear you will need the following items:

Early Espresso Card Stock #119686

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 /4"
  • cut at 3 1/2" x 3 1/2"

Pink Pirouette Card Stock #111351

  • cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4" one for the inside and one for the front of the card
  • scrap piece to stamp the bow

Crumb Cake Card Stock #120953

  • cut at 3 1/4" x 3 1/4"
  • scrap piece to stamp "hello, baby"

The inks I used for this card are Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Blushing Bride and Pink Pirouette.

It was easiest for me to go from the darkest color to lightest color to make the bear.  I first stamped #3 with Early Espresso, then #2 with Crumb Cake.  The ink I used for the #1 bear was Crumb Cake stamped off once.  Stamped off means that you ink up your stamp and stamp it on a scrap piece of paper.  Then you stamp on your card with it and it is a lighter version of the color you were using.  This is a great technique if you want to do shadows.

For the bow I did the first step with Pink Pirouette and the second with Blushing Bride.

Here are two displays of other colors you can make the bear with.  I don't know who did these, but sure am glad they shared!

There are a lot of different colors you can put together that aren't even on these two pictures.  Let you imagine go wild and see what you can come up with!!  Please share if you do, I would love to see them!

Thank you for stopping by today!

Happy Stampin!

Happy Anniversary

I am in a group on Facebook consisting of other Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  I am in love with this group!  Everyone encourages each other, shares ideas, gives advice and truly care about each other.  You know what I love the most?  I am becoming friends with people from all over the world.  How cool is that?  One of the demonstrators had shared this card (I am sorry I don't remember who it was) and I loved how she was able to show most of the new incolors and Banners For You stamp set and matching framelits.  I thought it was perfect to display at my Open House.  It is so bright and cheery!

To make this card you will need the following products:

Sweet Sugarplum Card Stock #141418

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
  • scrap to make the banner

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4"

I first stamped the banner with Sweet Sugarplum ink on Sweet Sugarplum paper and the used the Emerald Envy for stamping the Happy Anniversary.  The ribbon is the 3/8" Ruched Ribbon in the new color Peekaboo Peach.

Thank you for stopping in!  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Stampin!

On this card I used two of our new colors, Denim Dapper and Sweet Sugarplum.  How beautiful are these two colors.  I am in love with all of the new incolors this year.   They are so pretty!  I know you will love them too!

Open House

The first thing I want to say is THANK YOU to everyone who came to my Open House and made it such a success!!!  I especially want to thank my best friend, Robin, for coming to my rescue yesterday morning.  You are the best friend anyone can have!  On Saturday I had displays of new products with samples, make and takes, door prizes and food.  It was a lot of fun getting to talk to everyone and hear how excited they are about the products and my upcoming classes.

The above picture is of the Floral Boutique Suite on page 77 in the catalog.  How do I know the page number already, because this is my favorite collection in the whole catalog.  It was the first thing on my list, I used it in my Scrapbooking Class and Stamp Camp.  I just want to keep making everything with it.  Looking at the picture above, I just realized I forgot to set out the washi tape that coordinates with this collection.

That is one thing and an important thing of why I love Stampin' Up!  Everything coordinates, your paper, ink, ribbon, stamps, markers, designer series paper, washi and sometimes even framelits.  There is no second guessing if something will go with it and you can get it all in one place.  It doesn't get any better than that!

The following are pictures from the Open House.  I don't have any of when my friends were here as time went so fast.  I don't know how 2 hours can go by like a minute.  Time flies when you are having fun!  We definitely had that!

                                   FullSizeRender 8

This is a few of when you first walk down my stairs into my craft room.  I have sort of taken over the basement, ok I have taken over the basement.  It is the perfect place for me to work on things and not disturb anyone else.  It is wonderful for when I am having classes so the rest of my family isn't disturbed.

Here are some pictures of my display tables.  I will be showing you all the different cards and projects over the next few weeks in more detail.  I had so much fun creating these.

This is the food table!! Yummy!

These are the New Catalog Survival Kits that I made for everyone.  I got my inspiration for these from a Facebook group I belong to.  There are some very talented people that were so kind to share their talents.  I will have more details on what is in them another day.

I know this post is long but I wanted to share with the people that couldn't make it.  I hope you enjoyed seeing all the new and fun products.

Thank you for stopping by!  I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Happy Stampin!

Where, oh where is Joyce?

Where, oh where did Joyce go?  I have been in my craft room every possible moment.  This week I have 2 stamp camps and my Annual Catalog Open House on Saturday.

If you know me you know that I am an organization freak.  Well, this is how may craft room looks right now.

I am not sure why this picture keeps going side ways, but this is another section of my desk.  I think I might have to send out an SOS before my next Stamp Camp on Friday.

Here is a sneak peak of one of my cards that I have made for my Open House.  In the upcoming weeks I will post all of the fun things I have made.  Every time I use one of my new stamps I fall in love all over.  I am so excited about this catalog!

I can't wait to show you all of the fun cards and projects I made.

Thank you for stopping in!

Happy Stampin!

Mosaic Scrapbook Page

In my scrapbooking classes we make two 2 page layouts and this is one of the page layouts we made in my June class.  It is a simple but yet fun page.  I had just gone through my first order from the Annual Catalog and saw this paper.  I liked it in the catalog, but I really like it in person.  It is so pretty and the colors are so bright and cheerful.  I also love all the different designs, so I had a hard time figuring out which ones to use on this project.

I wanted something colorful and would stand out, but take the attention away from the pictures.  These two patterns are subtle enough, but add a lot to the page.  When I had it finished I just had the Dapper Denim square in the middle and it looked too plain.  I experimented with a bunch of different things, 3-D flowers, sentiments, other DSP paper, embossing and nothing worked.  I think I was over thinking it,  so I went back to simple.  I really liked this one from the Flower Patch stamp set.  Simple, but cute!

You are going to make the same page twice. You can either leave them the same next to each other or turn one of them for a different look. You will see in the picture below that I kept mine the same.

To make this card you will need the following items:

Cajun Craze 12 x 12 Card Stock #131188

Early Espress Card Stock #119686

  • cut four at 4 3/8" x 5 1/2"

Very Vanilla Card Stock #101650

  • cut four at 4 3/8" x 5 1/2"

Dapper Denim Card Stock #141414

  • cut at 2 3/8" 2 3/8"

Moroccan Designer Series Paper #141645

  • cut 4 at 1 1/4 x 4 3/8

I would suggest you lay everything out on your 12 x12 paper to get the spacing correct before you start adhering them to the paper.  I have about 1/8" between each piece.

Here is a picture of how they look together.

                            FullSizeRender 6-2

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.  We are in Pennsylvania visiting Mark's family for his niece's graduation.  It is always nice to see everyone, especially since we don't get there as often as we want to.

Thank you for stopping by!

Happy Stampin!

Floral Boutique Scrapbooking Page

                                 Left Side Page

I had my second Scrapbooking Class last night and I am really having fun designing these pages.  I haven't scrapbooked in a very long time, really since I started selling Stampin' Up! which has been over 3 years.  I had a group of my customers ask if I could start teaching classes and I was absolutely!

On this page I wanted to use the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper and Flourish Thinlets from the new Annual Catalog.  I feel in love with the Floral Boutique Suite on page 77 (is it bad that I know the page number by heart already?) as soon as I saw it.  I had a problem with what DSP do I use, they are all so beautiful.  I ended up using only a little section of the paper on this page.  You will definitely be seeing this paper a lot in the future.

The above picture is of the left side page of a 2 page layout and below is the right side page of the layout.   To make both pages you will need the following items:

Night of Navy 12 x 12 Card Stock #131188

  • you will need 2 12 x 12 pieces plus
  • cut 2 at 1/4" x 12"

Night of Navy Card Stock #100867

  • cut 4 at 4" x 6"
  • cut at 3" x 3 1/4" - this is for the sentiment on the right hand page

Whisper White 12 x 12 Card Stock #124302

  • cut at 3/4" x 12

 Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut 4 at 4 1/4" x 6 1/4"
  • cut one at just under 2" x 4 1/4" - this is for the tag
  • cut at 3" x 3" - this is for the flower on the left hand page
  • cut at 3 1/2" x 4 1/2" - this is for the flower on the right hand page
  • cut at 3 x 3 1/4" - this is for the scallop oval

Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper #141663

  • cut 2 at 1 1/4" x 12 "

When I finished putting this page all put together, it was just missing something, but what?  I kept looking at it and couldn't figure it so I walked away for a few minutes.  Do you do that when you are struggling with a page?  When I came back I figured it out!!! The Night Of Navy 12 x 12 sheets needed something on them, they were too plain.  I used Night of Navy ink and the stamp set Falling Flowers (the medium size flower) to add a little design to it.  I love using the same color of ink and paper together.

I have some hints for you when you make these pages.

  • Use the precision plate for cutting out both of the flowers.
  • On the bigger flower on the right hand page I ended up using the dryer sheet method to get it off the framelit.  The Big Shot Brush was just not getting it out and it was ripping.  It could just be my framelit.
  • I used the Big Shot Brush on the flower on the left hand page
  • I used the fine tip glue pen to adhere both of the flowers
  • I used white embossing powder for the sentiment on the right hand page
  • I used dimensionals to attach the tag
  • I used glue dots to attach the bakers twine

                                       Right Side Page

Here is what the two pages look like when you lay them side by side as you would in a scrapbook.

                                       FullSizeRender 3-2

I hope I gave you some inspiration today to go and make some scrapbook pages.  Check back on Sunday for the other layout we did in class.

Thank you for stopping by!
