Masculine Thoughtful Branches Card

IMG_6731

This is the card that I was telling you about yesterday.  Isn't a great card for the men in your life?  These trees also make a great Christmas card too.  Instead of the grass, put snow using the Dazzling Diamond Glitter Paper and Wink of Stella on the trees.  Hmm, I think I might just have to make that card.  As I am looking at the card it just came to me that it would be pretty as a fall card too.  I am going to have to go and get creating! Darn!  LOL

You will only need two colors of ink and paper, plus Whisper White paper to make this card.  How awesome is that!!  You will need Early Espresso and Old Olive, two colors I love and use a lot.  The stamp sets I used were Thoughtful Branches and Cottage Greetings.

The following measurements are needed:

Early Espresso Card Stock #119686

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

Old Olive Card Stock #100702

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut at 3 3/4" x 5" for the front
  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4" for the inside

The trees are a two step stamped image.  It is easiest, for me at least, to stamp the Early Espresso (trunk and branches) first and then the Old Olive (leaves).  For the inside of the card I stamped two trees at different levels on the left hand side.

I have been busy working on a project for my new series call Fall Friday's! Don't forget to check back on Friday to find out all the details!

Thank you for stopping by and have a fabulous day!

Happy Stampin!

Thoughtful Branches For You Card

IMG_6732

When Stampin' Up! came out with the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and matching framelits for a limited time I was so excited.  I love how versatile this set is.  You can make flowers like I have above, a tree (you could make one for each season), trees for masculine cards or Christmas cards, fall trees, and the sentiments are amazing!

This stamp set was suppose to be available only through tomorrow, August 31 or while supplies last.   Good news for everyone, they still have some left so you can still order.  Please remember this is while supplies last.  Once they are gone, they are gone forever, this set won't come back again. :(.

This is a fun card to make and you can use it for a lot of different occasions.  To make this card I used the following products:

Rose Red Card Stock #102544

  • cut at 4 1/4" x 11" score at 5 1/2"
  • scrap for the 1 1/2" circle punch

Garden Green Card Stock #102584

  • cut at 3" x 3 1/2"

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut 2 at 3" x 3 3/4" for the flower
  • cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • scrap for the 1 3/8" circle

To make the flower bouquet you are going to stamp it once onto one of the 3" x 3 3/4" pieces of white paper and then WITHOUT reining stamp it again on the other white paper that is the same size.  You will use the framelit to cut out both of the flowers bouquets, but only one at a time.  To save time  you can cut out the stem at the same time as you do one of the bouquets.  Adhere the lighter shade flower bouquet onto the white paper that has been embossed with the Petal Burst embossing folder.  The darker bouquet I offset a little bit, so you can see the lighter flowers beneath it through the holes.  I then used dimensionals to adhere it, you will have to cut them in little pieces, this gives the card a little bit of dimension.  The circles with the "For You" is also popped.

For the inside of my card I stamped the flower bouquet just like the front, but I stamped it right onto the whisper white paper.  You will want off set the second stamping just a little.

Don't forget you can only get this stamp set while supplies last.  I will be showing you another card tomorrow with this stamp set that is for the men in your life.

I did something over the weekend that I have not done in a very long time and it was definitely needed.  I took the weekend off from both of my jobs!  This is a big step for me and I knew I needed to spend time with my family and just relax.  It was wonderful!  I think I am going to have to do it again soon!

We moved Erica back home, everything but the big stuff, over the weekend.  Her room is turning out really cute.  When she moved out last year her room was still a teenagers room and she didn't want that anymore as she is a junior in college.  I totally understand that.  It has been fun getting it all together with her.  It is great to have her back home again.

Thank you for stopping in and have a wonderful day!

Happy Stampin!

Bunch of Blossoms Scrapbook Page

  IMG_6741        IMG_6742

This is the scrapbook pages that I told you about on Wednesday. This style is very different than what I usually do, but I still really like it.  My inspiration for this came from a card a fellow demonstrator, Chris Galbraith, created.  I kept looking at her card over and over again, I was totally mesmerized by it.  To me it was very calming and just down right beautiful.

I contacted Chris and asked her if I could use her card to create a scrapbook page and she said absolutely.  I was so happy.  I had a lot of fun creating this layout.  I first started with 2 - 12  x 12 sheets of Pear Pizzazz card stock as my base.  I wanted to use the same colors as Chris did, which were Peekaboo Peach and Pool Party.  I added Chocolate Chip to sponge around the Very Vanilla card stock and the Pool Party Designer Series Paper Stack (the blue paper with writing on it) to  soften up the pages even more.

To make these layouts you will need the following measurements:

Chocolate Chip Card Stock #102128

  • cut at 4 1/4" x 4 1/4"
  • cut at 4 1/4" x 6 1/4"
  • cut at 4" x 11"

Peekaboo Peach Card Stock #141417

  • cut at 3 1/4" x 3 1/4"
  • cut at 4 1/4" x 6 1/4"

Pool Party Card Stock #122924

  • cut at 3 1/4" x  3 1/4"
  • cut at 4 1/4" x 4 1/4"

Very Vanilla Card Stock #101650

  • 6" x 10 1/2"
  • scraps for the flowers and leaves

Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack #138437

  • cut at 3" x 12"

To make the background on the Very Vanilla paper I used the fern from the Butterfly Basics stamp set stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink.  I would stamp it at full strength and then stamp off about 2-3 times before reinking.  I then sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip ink and I also did the DSP stack too.

To make the flowers I used Peekaboo Peach and Pool Party inks and the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set.  This stamp set has 3 steps to make a flower.  You will stamp the outline of the flower first as this will make lining up the other two stamps a lot easier.    Then you will use the stamp I call the definition stamp (this one gives the flower more color in certain areas).  The final stamp, which covers the whole area,  you will want to stamp off first because you want this to be light in color.  Guess what !  There is a matching punch to go with this stamp set!  I love punches!  They are so fast and easy, which will be very nice with the amount of flowers you are making.

I hope you enjoy this layout as much as I have designing it for you.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Stampin!

I saw a beautiful card on Pinterest that caught my eye and I kept thinking wouldn't this be great as a scrapbook page.  The first thing I saw was the Very Vanilla paper in the center stamped with an image from the Grateful Bunch stamp set. This came out so soft looking. It looks so pretty in person, but I just couldn't get it to show up in the pictures like I wanted. You are going to have to trust me on this one.

I went to my craft table and started playing and this is what I came up with. I love it! I used Crumb Cake ink on all the Very Vanilla paper and the Crumb Cake background and I also used Blushing Bride ink on the Blushing Bride paper.  The design on the 12 x 12 Crumb Cake paper is a stamp from the Grateful Bunch stamp.  This set has a matching punch which is great when you have so many flowers on a page.

To make this page you will need to start with two 12 x 12 sheets of Crumb Cake Card Stock.  Then you will need the following items:

Blushing Bride Card Stock #131198

  • cut 4 at 4 1/4" x 6 1/4"
  • cut 1 at 3 1/4" x 5 1/4"
  • scraps for the flowers

Very Vanilla Card stock #101650

  • cut 2 at 4" x 12"
  • scraps for the flowers

You will notice that there are a lot of flowers on this page.  You will need 12 total in Blushing Bride - 8 big, 2 medium and 2 little.  For the Very Vanilla flowers you are going to need a total of 15 - 8 large, 4 medium and 3 little.  The nice thing about the Blossom Bunch Punch is that it punches out 3 flowers at one time and  all three flowers are on one stamp!  It is so nice!  I used different sizes of pearls to put in the middle of the flowers.  It added the final touch that was needed to the page.

I  am always looking at cards to get other ideas for projects and even other cards.  Both of the page layouts I did for scrapbooking class were inspired by cards.   My other page is a different style than I usually make, but I really like it. I will have it for you in the next day or two.

Thank you for stopping in today.  Have a wonderful day!

Happy Stampin!

Elmo!

IMG_6624

Do you remember the Dancing with Elmo that was popular in the 90's?  Erica was 1 or 2 and we got her one for her birthday that is in November.   We had no problem getting it and there were a lot on the shelves.  Then it came out that it was the most popular toy of the Christmas season and everybody wanted one.  Some people were even paying hundreds of dollars for them.  I wish we would have known because we would have picked up more.  LOL

When I went to make this card, it reminded me of that time.  One of my daycare angels, Alice, loves Sesame Street, especially Elmo.  I had some Elmo wrapping paper for her birthday gift so I had to make a card that matched it.

You will need the following products to make Elmo:

Real Red Card Stock #102482

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 4" x 5" this is for Elmo

Daffodil Delight Card Stock #119683

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

Scraps of:

  • Basic Black card stock #121045
  • Pumpkin Pie card stock #105117
  • Whisper White card stock #100730

To make this card I went online and looked up images of Elmo and found this one.  I have had this template for at least 5 years, but I am sure it is on there somewhere.  You know they say, once on the internet, always on the internet.  I cut out the image that I had printed on copy paper and then I flipped it over so the the front was laying on the Real Red card stock.  I wanted to trace it this way so that if any of my pencil marks showed it wouldn't matter because it was on the back.  For the mouth I put a piece of black paper to cover the opening (this is a great way to use one of your scrap pieces).

The eyes were made with a 1/14" circle punch and 1'2" circle punch was used for the black circles.  The nose was hand cut after I traced it onto Pumpkin Pie card stock (another great way to use up scraps). To trace the nose I put down a piece of pumpkin pie card stock, the template and then a piece of copy paper.  You can see the design through the copy paper and I used a pen to press hard so it made an imprint on the orange paper.  I used our paper snips from SU (which are the best scissors I have) to cut out the nose.  All of these are adhered with snail adhesive.

I used the Crazy About You stamp set for the Happy Birthday and punched it out using the new Classic Label Punch.  To get the black to frame it, I adhered it to the black and then cut around it.

We have had a busy weekend around here.  We have had the Grand Randall's since Saturday morning and it has been a lot of fun.  I forgot how much work it is to take 3 kids places and how much you have to take with you.  I don't know how I would take 6-8 kids with me everyday to the pool.  One thing I know for sure I was a lot younger. LOL

Thank you for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful Tuesday!

Happy Stampin!

Embellished Ornaments

IMG_6589

This is my last card from my August Christmas Card Class.  These ornaments are one of my favorites, and the best part is they have matching framelits!!!  No fussy cutting!  I was so happy when they carried them over from last years Holiday catalog.

I used the new Holly Embossing Folder and love it.  The picture in the catalog does not do it justice.  It is so much prettier in person.  I think you will be seeing the folder a lot this season.

To make the green and red ornament you will need to use the decorative framelit with  the Cucumber Crush card stock and the Real Red card stock for the solid ornament underneath the green one.  I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to adhere the green to the red. One thing I have learned with this glue is you have to hold your pieces together for  a little bit, about 30 seconds, for it to adhere well.  I usually am not that patient, so I take a clear block and lay it on top of it for a minute and it works great.

To make this card you will need the following:

Cucumber Crush Card Stock #138335

  • cut at 5 /12" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 3" x 3 1/4" for the ornament

Real Red Card Stock #102482

  • cut at 3" x 3 1/4" for the ornament
  • cut at 1 3/4' x 2 1/2"

Whisper White Card Stock #100730

  • Cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • cut at 2 1/2" x 4" for the big ornament
  • 1 3/4" x 2 1/2"

I popped the green/red ornament and the sentiment with dimensionals.  I used glue dots to attach the gold bows, which were made with 8 inches of ribbon each.

On the inside of the card I used the holly stamp and stamped it on the left hand side with the Cucumber Crush ink and the saying with the Real Red ink.

Have a great weekend!  We will be busy as we have the grand Randall's for a few days.

Happy Stampin!

I had to share! This is too cute!!!

IMG_8838

One of my little daycare angels, Brielle, keeps me laughing daily. She has a great personality and such a loving heart.  I get this picture, plus others further in the post from her mom.  Along with the photos is the saying "She is having Stamp Camp".  I think she took that word too literal.  How cute is that!  Now, I am not sure if mom thought it was so cute when you see these other pictures.

How can you not love that adorable face with those big brown eyes!! She is just so precious!  Brielle is one of three and I take care of all of them.  Their family is very close to us, so close that we call the kids our grandrandall's.  They are like our grand kids, but not biological. We are so blessed to have them in our lives.

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a great day!

Icing on My Cupcake

IMG_6625

At the SU convention Sara demonstrated how to add to the Sweet Cupcake stamp set to make it look like real icing on the cupcake.  So, of course, I had to try it!   If you look close you will see the darkest color on the cupcake is the part that I added.  It was really pretty easy to do.

To make the cupcake you use the three different stamps in the set to make a layering look.  I do mine opposite of what they are numbered in the set.  I do the lightest first (the stamp with the most coverage, #3) by inking it up and then stamping off first onto a scrap piece of paper and then stamping onto my Whisper White paper.  You will then do the next step #2 the same way, by stamping off first.  The final step (#1 in the set) I did not stamp off, I stamp it full strength.  Now comes the fun part!!!

You will make a mixture of:

  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 1 tablespoon glue - like Elmer's
  • 1 tablespoon white acrylic paint
  • reinker - amount will vary
  • water

You put in all the ingredients into a small cup and mix together and it will be dry.  You then add water a tiny tiny bit at a time to get the consistency of icing.  The amount of reinker you use will determine on how dark of color you want it.  I ended up using, I would say, about 20 drops of Sweet Sugarplum to get the color on the card.  Mix it up very well.

You will then put some of the mixture onto something flat, a block works great for this.  Take the stamp that is #1 in the set (the one with the least amount of stamping image) and lightly, very lightly, and get the mixture on it.  You will want to do this slow and gentle, because you only want the part that is going to stamp with the mixture on it. You don't want to get any on the other parts as it will not come out very nice.  How do I know this, because I have done it many times.   LOL

I used the confetti embossing folder on the pink paper, but it has an oval in the middle that is clear.  It is great if you want to stamp an image or add a cut out there.  I didn't like just the cupcake, it looked plain.  I added the Smoky Gray layer and another layer of Pink Pirouette.  I popped the cupcake and the "make a wish".  I used the Classic Label Punch to make the banner for the sentiment on the front.  This is how I made it small to fit the words.

IMG_6673

IMG_6674

This card still needed something, but what?  Glitter!  I used the Wink of Stella and love it!  I put it around the gray and on the icing on the cupcake.  Just what it needed!

------------------------------

In two weeks we will be moving Erica back in to our house which means it has been a busy time.  We, or I should really say Mark, has been redoing her room.  We are trying to make it look like a grown up room, not a teenagers room.  I guess it is time for that since she will be 21 soon.  How in the world did that happen!!  I am only 29!  LOL

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Stampin!
