Vintage Leaves and Stylized Birthday Card

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up! Vintage Leaves138802, Stylized Birthday stamp set #141828, Cable Knit Embossing Folder #143537, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects, go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

I was on Pinterest the other day and saw this awesome card created by Amy Koenders.  Thank you Amy for sharing your card with everyone.  I love how you can use it for anyone, male or female.

To make this card you will need the following products:

Soft Suede Cardstock #115318

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 3 1/2" x 3 3/4"

Early Espresso Cardtock #119686

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • cut at 3" x 3"

Crumb Cake Cardstock #120953

  • cut at 3 7/8" x 5 1/8"
  • cut at 2 7/8" x 2 7/8"

Very Vanilla Cardstock #101650

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

The easiest way for me to explain how I made this card is to go layer by layer.  We are going to start with the bottom layer made with the crumb cake cardstock.  I used the biggest leaf in the Vintage Leaves stamp set for all the background stamping.

  • Crumb Cake layer:  use Sahara Sand ink and stamp off first before stamping on the cardstock
  • Soft Suede layer: use the Cable Knit embossing folder
  • Crumb Cake (top) layer:  Soft Suede ink and stamp off first before stamping on the cardstock.  Stamp the Happy Birthday with the Soft Suede ink full strength.
  • Very Vanilla inside: Sahara Sand ink stamp full strength and then stamp again turning slightly without inking your stamp again.  This will give you a shadow look.  I did this on the bottom right hand corner.

Stamping off means you ink up your stamp and stamp on a scrap piece of paper first.  Then stamp on your project without reinking your stamp.  This will give you a lighter image on your project.

I adhered everything with Snail Adhesive except for the two top layers and there I used Stampin Dimensionals.

I personally think this would make a great masculine card for fall birthdays or actually you could do it for any time of the year.

Today is hump day!!!  We are half way through our week!  Have a wonderful day today!

SCS Creative Crew October 2017 Project #5

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up! Wood Words #143928, Heartland stamp set #143892, Softly Falling Embossing Folder #139672, Brick Wall Embossing Folder #138288, Stitched Shapes Framelits #145372, Layering Oval Framelits #141706, 2" Circle Punch #133782, Leaf Punch #144667, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

This is my final project for the October SCS Creative Crew.  For this project we had to use the following colors in our projects.

I have to say, this was another one that stumped me for a while.  I liked the color combination, I just couldn't figure out how to use it in a comfy, cozy (that was our theme of the month) project.  When I work on some projects, I try many different punches or things cut out with framelits/thinlits.  When I don't use them, I just throw them in a basket to use at a different time.  I accidentally knocked over the basket and the two yellow pieces fell out onto the floor.  That started my creating process and I ended up with the above card.

To make this card you will need the following products:

Chocolate Chip Cardstock #102128

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 2 1/4" x 2 1/4

Tangerine Tango Cardstock #111349

  • cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"

Daffodil Delight Cardstock #119683

  • cut at 3 1/4" x 6 1/2"

Tranquil Tide Cardstock #144246

  • cut at 2 1/4" x 5" you can cut all three pieces out of this piece

Whisper White Cardstock #100730

  • cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4"

I used the Eastern Medallion Framelits to make the sunflower.  When you cut them, you will need 2 of them, you are going to notice that they aren't cut all the way through.  In the picture below you will see how you have to cut them.

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up! Eastern Medallions Thinlits #143275, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking or 3D projects go to stampinscrapper, Joyce Whitman

Once you get them cut you will take your Tangerine Tango and sponge the edges of the flowers.  I then took my bone folder and curled the edges of the flowers.  Adhere the two pieces together alternating the flowers.  Next, I ran the Chocolate Chip circle through the Big Shot using the Softly Falling Embossing Folder.  You will want to put your circle near the bottom of the embossing folder so you can get a lot of dots on the circle.  I also used the Brick Wall Embossing Folder on one of the white pieces for the background.

I then punched out two leaves from the Tranquil Tide cardstock using the Leaf Punch in the holiday catalog.  The sentiment is from the Wood Words stamp set.  On the inside of the card I used a sentiment from the Heartland stamp set which says "Just a note to let you know I'm thinking of you".

I used snail adhesive on most of the card, except the flower that is popped using the Stampin Dimensionals.   To finish off the card, I put Wink of Stella on the circle part of the flower.  You can see it a little in the picture below.

What can I say, I love the Merry Cafe stamp set!  Our theme this month for SplitcoastStampers Creative Crew was comfy and cozy. What gives you more of a feel of comfort and cozines than something pumpkin spice.  I love, love, love anything pumpkin spice. I drink it all year round, not just in the fall.

One of the projects we do each month for creative crew is a simple card and then do a stepped up version.  The above card is my stepped up version of the card below.

UPDATE ON WORLD CARD MAKING DAY SALE!!!

The fast fuse promotion has been so successful that they have had to discontinue it.  Stampin' Up!  never thought it would be so popular, that they have run out of the fast fuse and refills.  The good news is that it will be offered again for five days in a few months.   As soon as I know more about it, I will let you know.

CoffeeandChatStampinScrapperJoyceWhitman2

Why is it when you have a week where you have a lot going on, you get sick?  I have 3 classes this week and on Monday night my body did not like something I ate.  Yuk!  I am pretty sure I figured out what made me sick - cookies I ate from a festival.  I won't be doing that again.  My sweet ladies were so kind to reschedule their class for the next night for me. They are the best!

I was doing much better on Wednesday and was able to work and take care of my little ones and have my rescheduled class that night. We had a great time.

You know what warms my heart?  When I talk to my daughter and we can have deep meaningful conversations about how important prayer is in our lives.  Every day, not just on Sunday's.  We have to read God's word and live His word.  I had a situation I was dealing with on Wednesday evening and God's hand was in every word that was spoken. God is so good!

Thank you for stopping by to see my Fall Friday project!

SCS Creative Crew October 2017 Project #2

StampinUpJarofLoveMerryCafeStampinScrapperJoyceWhitman

For this card we had a picture we had to look at to get inspiration for our project.  I will be honest, this one took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do.  I would look at the picture, go look at my paper, go back to the picture and again go back to my paper.  Then one night after one of my classes my best friend, Robin, and I were talking and I had the Painted Autumn DSP laying on the table.  We both looked at each other and thought I wonder if this paper would work.  I looked on the back of the package and it didn't say it coordinated with any of the grays that Stampin' Up! has.  The dark color is Early Espresso in the paper.

So, I got out a piece of the Basic Gray (which I used) and the Smoky Slate and laid them on top of the designer series paper.  Oh my goodness, the Basic Gray was perfect!  It was like a light bulb went off and I started getting ideas.  The theme this month was comfy and cozy and to me that describes fall.  You will notice that all of my projects this month have a fall theme to them.

Here is the picture that we used for inspiration.

Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking or 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

Did you notice the green plant on the top right corner?  That is where I pulled in the green along with the Cajun Craze, Basic Gray and Very Vanilla.  When I was looking at the picture on my phone, the browns looked like gray, but looking at it bigger here, there is definitely brown in the flooring and the table.  The walls though and some of the pillows look a little gray to me.  How about you?

To make this project you will need the following:

Very Vanilla Thick Cardstock #144237

  • cut at 5 /12" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 1 1/2" x 2 1/2"  for the sentiment
  • cut at 1 1/2" x 2 3/4" for the lids of the cups
  • cut at 2" x 2" for the leaf

Cajun Craze Cardstock #119684

  • cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
  • cut at 3" x 4 3/4" for the two cups
  • cut at 2" x 2" for the leaf

Garden Green Cardstock #102584

  • cut at 2" x 2" for the leaf
  • scraps for the hearts

Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper #144613

  • cut at 2" x 3 3/4"

Did you notice the stamping on the Basic Gray piece of paper?  I did that with a stamp from the Jar of Love using the Smoky Slate ink, but I stamped it off first.  I wanted a real light image since it was for a background.

The only thing that is popped on this card is the sentiment.  I used the 1/2" Gingham Ribbon in Smoky Slate to wrap around the card to give a finished look.

Coffee Cafe

stampin up, Stampin' Up! Coffee Cafe stamp set #143677, Coffee Break Designer Series Paper #144155, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects, go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

I always tell my customers if there is a card you would like to make, please let me know.  I enjoy seeing what their style is and making it part of one of our classes.  Sometimes it is a card that I wouldn't typically make, but I love it anyway.  What a great way to learn new styles, techniques and ideas.  One of my customers and my best friend, Robin, sent the above card to me.  She had seen it on Pinterest and fell in love with it.  The person who originally created this card did not put their name on it, so I don't know who to give credit to.  Thank you whoever you are and for sharing such an adorable card with us.  It had a coffee cup on the front, so of course, I fell in love with it!  The best part is, it is a cute card and easy to make.

To make this card you will need the following products:

Soft Sky Cardstock #131203

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 1" x 1 1/2"

Early Espresso Cardstock #119686

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

Crumb Cake Cardstock #120953

  • cut at 2 1/4" x 3"

Soft Suede Cardstock #115318

  • cut at 1 1/2" x 2"

Garden Green Cardstock #102584

  • a piece of scrap for the little stopper on the top of the cup

Whisper White Cardstock #100730

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • scraps for the lid and beans

Coffee Break Designers Series Paper #144155

  • cut at 1 1/2" x 5"
  • cut at 2 1/4" x 5"

I used the coordinating Coffee Cup framelits that matched this stamp set to cut out everything.  It even has a die to make the band that goes around the cup with the lines in it.  It makes life so much easier when things coordinate.  I stamped the coffee beans on the inside of the card and on the envelope.

The ribbon is the 3/8" Classic Weave Ribbon in Soft Sky and I used 10 inches.

Stampin' Up! has some exciting news coming up in October that you are not going to want to miss!  I will have all the details for you on Monday, October 2nd along with my first project from the SplitcoastStampers Creative Crew projects for October.  I have been having a lot of fun working on my projects, even though they have been a little bit of a struggle for me.  I have been going out of my comfort zone on some of these projects, which is good.

Have a great Wednesday and thank you for stopping by today!

Count My Blessings

stampin up, Stampin' Up! Count My Blessings #144790, Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper #144613, Stitched Shapes Framelits # 145372, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking or 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

I created this card a couple of weeks ago for my stamp camps last week.  When I was on our demonstrator FaceBook page last week, there were 3 more just like it.  They had used the same designer series paper but with different sentiments.    I guess great minds think a like.  LOL

This is a very easy card and is perfect when you need a card in a hurry.  You can use it for any occasion by changing the sentiment.

To make this card you will need the following products:

Early Espresso Cardstock #119686

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 2" x 3"

Tangerine Tango Cardstock #111349

  • cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"

Whisper White Cardstock #100730

  • cut at 2" x 3"
  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper #144613

  • cut at 4" x 5 1/4"

I stamped both sentiments (on the front and inside of the card) in Tangerine Tango ink.  I cut the sentiment on the front using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  For the Early Espresso piece I used the Layering Oval Framelits.

I usually don't buy a stamp set unless I can make three cards off the top of my head with it.  This stamp set though, I bought just for the sentiments.  I am in love with this font.  It is so pretty to me.

Smitten Mittens Card

stampin up, Stampin' Up! Smitten Mittens stamp set #144931, Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder #144686, Many mittens Framelits #144672, created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects, go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

This is one of the cards that we made at my Christmas Card Classes this month.  The first time I saw this stamp set in the catalog it went on my wish list.  You can use this stamp set for Christmas, but you can also use it for winter projects too. I love the combination of the mittens with the Winter Wonder Embossing Folder. This stamp set has matching framelits, Many Mittens, and you can get both of them as a bundle for 10% off.  This stamp set just keeps getting better and better!

To make this card you will need the following products:

Cherry Cobbler Cardstock #119685

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 3" x 5"

Whisper White Cardstock #100730

  • cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • cut 2 at 1" x 3" for the snowflakes and tops of mittens

When I embossed the piece of Whisper White cardstock with the Winter Wonder folder I put the image to the left side of the paper.  I wanted you to be able to see more of the embossed image.  If you put the embossed image in the center of your paper and then put the mittens on top, you wouldn't have seen much of the stamped image.

I stamped the snowflakes on the mittens and the top part of the mittens with Cherry Cobbler ink.  The snowflakes are adhered with Stampin Dimensionals.  When it was all assembled, I added Wink of Stella to the sections of the embossed snowflake that were visible. DO NOT put the Wink of Stella on the stamped snowflakes.  The ink will bleed and it will make a mess. Below is a picture so you can see better what I did.

To finish the card, I added a double loop bow made with the White Bakers Twine.  For the sentiment inside the card, I used a stamp from the Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set.   It said "warm heartfelt greeting for a very Merry Christmas".  I also stamped the Cherry Cobbler snowflake on the inside of the card and the envelope.

I really appreciate you stopping by today and checking out my blog. I hope you all have a terrific day!

Painted Harvest and Snowflake Sentiments Christmas Card

stampin up, Stampin' Up! Painted Harvest #144783, Snowflake Sentiments ##144820, Garden Trellis Embossing Folder #143741, designed and created by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

I love how versatile some of our stamp sets are, especially the Painted Harvest one.  You all know how much I love this stamp set, as I have used it a lot.  I saw a card on Pinterest that used this stamp set as a Christmas wreath and thought it was brilliant.

To make this card you will need the following products:

Garden Green Cardstock #102584

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
  • cut at 3 1/8" x 4 3/8"

Whisper White Cardstock #100730

  • cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • cut at 3" x 4 1/4"

You will use one of  the Whisper White cardstock pieces to emboss using the Garden Trellis Embossing Folder.  This piece gets adhered to the front of the card base with the other one in the inside of the card.  On the small piece of Whisper White cardstock I stamped the Merry Christmas first and then my wreath.

For the wreath you are going to stamp the largest stamp with Pear Pizzazz and the second layer is stamped with Garden Green ink.  I then took the little stamp that has the dots on it and used Real Red ink to stamp them on top of the wreath.  To finish off the wreath I tied a small bow with the Real Red 1/8" Solid Ribbon.  The top two layers are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

This card was the favorite of my ladies at my Christmas card classes last week.

If you have a hard time lining up your stamps in the Painted Harvest stamp set, I did a video to show you a little trick I have to line them up.

We have been having a lot of fun working on our house this last week and weekend.  We had most of the painting done until I came up with another idea.  I don't think Mr. Wonderful is liking all my wonderful ideas lately.  LOL  We had the stairwells painted last week and I love the color we picked.  In our entry way the paint from the upstairs stairs comes down a little into it.  I like the color of our entryway and the hall, but it just doesn't look as good with the new paint.  Since we have a gallon of paint left, I thought we could paint the hall the same color.  Believe it or not, Mr. Wonderful agreed!  Yay! It isn't a real big area so it shouldn't take us too long to paint it.

This week we get our new countertops!  I am so excited.  The fixtures in the girls bathroom will get done tomorrow and then I get to start packing up my kitchen cupboards.  I don't want anything to get on my things when they put in the countertops, so I am emptying them. I really want to put up my fall decorations, but am waiting until all of this is done.  I usually have them up on September 1st, but not this year.  I will be putting them up this week however.

Thank you for stopping by today!  It means a lot to me that you would take time out of your day to stop in.  Have a magnificient Monday!

Fall Friday 2017 Week #3

Stampin Up, Stampin' Up! Sheltering Tree #137163, Tabs for Everything #143907, Large Letters Framelits #141712, Classic Label Punch #141491, created and designed by Stampin Scrapper, for more cards, gifts, ideas, scrapbooking and 3D projects go to stampinscrapper.com, Joyce Whitman

I have been seeing cards with the Eclipse technique everywhere, so I thought I would try and make one myself.  I wasn't sure at first if this was going to be difficult or easy to make.  I am happy to say that they are very easy to make.  You can do so much with this technique and for so many different occasions.

To make this card you will need the following products:

Chocolate Chip Cardstock #102128

  • cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"

Whisper White Cardstock #100730

  • cut 2 at 4" x 5 1/4"

The first thing I did to make this card was stamp three trees from the Sheltering Tree stamp set using the Chocolate Chip ink.  I then stamped the leaves of the tree with Crushed Curry ink.  The second time I stamped the leaves, they had the colors of Cajun Craze, Cherry Cobbler and Pumpkin Pie.  I used sponge daubers and dabbed the three colors in various places on the leaves.  I then stamped them on top of the Crushed Curry leaves.  I did, however, move the stamp either a little to the left, up or down.  You don't want to stamp it right on top of where you stamped them in Crushed Curry.

When you have everything stamped you will want to draw a faint line with a pencil (you can see my line in the above picture as I forgot to erase it, Oops).  I put mine at 3/4" from the top of the paper. I lined up the letters from the Large Letter Framelits with the top of them on the line I drew.  You want to make sure when you run your paper with the framelits through the big shot that they don't move.  You can use post it notes, post it note tape or washi tape to hold the framelits in place if needed.

I have a little tip for you when you are lining up your letters.  When I was trying to figure out where to put the letters I realized I only had one "L".  Well, that wasn't going to work, so what do I do.  I took my "L" and measured it against the other letters and found out that the "E" was the same size.  So, I put the F,A, L and E on my card and then right before I ran it through the big shot I took off the "E".  I then ran it through a second time with just the "L".  Don't throw away the center piece of the letter "A" you will need it.

To make the letters higher than the stamped paper you will want to use the Foam Adhesive Strips.  They fit the letters perfectly.  The center piece of the "A" is not popped up, it is adhered to the stamped paper.

Here is another picture so you can see it at an angle.

So, what do you think of this technique?  I would love to see your creations with this technique!

Thank you so much for stopping by today.  Have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend!
