At the SU convention Sara demonstrated how to add to the Sweet Cupcake stamp set to make it look like real icing on the cupcake. So, of course, I had to try it! If you look close you will see the darkest color on the cupcake is the part that I added. It was really pretty easy to do.
To make the cupcake you use the three different stamps in the set to make a layering look. I do mine opposite of what they are numbered in the set. I do the lightest first (the stamp with the most coverage, #3) by inking it up and then stamping off first onto a scrap piece of paper and then stamping onto my Whisper White paper. You will then do the next step #2 the same way, by stamping off first. The final step (#1 in the set) I did not stamp off, I stamp it full strength. Now comes the fun part!!!
You will make a mixture of:
- 1/4 cup corn starch
- 1 tablespoon glue - like Elmer's
- 1 tablespoon white acrylic paint
- reinker - amount will vary
- water
You put in all the ingredients into a small cup and mix together and it will be dry. You then add water a tiny tiny bit at a time to get the consistency of icing. The amount of reinker you use will determine on how dark of color you want it. I ended up using, I would say, about 20 drops of Sweet Sugarplum to get the color on the card. Mix it up very well.
You will then put some of the mixture onto something flat, a block works great for this. Take the stamp that is #1 in the set (the one with the least amount of stamping image) and lightly, very lightly, and get the mixture on it. You will want to do this slow and gentle, because you only want the part that is going to stamp with the mixture on it. You don't want to get any on the other parts as it will not come out very nice. How do I know this, because I have done it many times. LOL
I used the confetti embossing folder on the pink paper, but it has an oval in the middle that is clear. It is great if you want to stamp an image or add a cut out there. I didn't like just the cupcake, it looked plain. I added the Smoky Gray layer and another layer of Pink Pirouette. I popped the cupcake and the "make a wish". I used the Classic Label Punch to make the banner for the sentiment on the front. This is how I made it small to fit the words.
This card still needed something, but what? Glitter! I used the Wink of Stella and love it! I put it around the gray and on the icing on the cupcake. Just what it needed!

In two weeks we will be moving Erica back in to our house which means it has been a busy time. We, or I should really say Mark, has been redoing her room. We are trying to make it look like a grown up room, not a teenagers room. I guess it is time for that since she will be 21 soon. How in the world did that happen!! I am only 29! LOL
Have a wonderful day!
Happy Stampin!
