Welcome to Merry Christmas Monday Week#2! This week I have made a lip balm holder. My friend, Anna Maria, sells Avon and was going to be doing a craft fair. She wanted something cute to put the lip balm in so they would make a great stocking stuffer. I saw something like this on Pinterest and thought it was perfect.
This is very easy to make and if you need to make multiples of it, I would recommend you do all your scoring first and then cut your paper. It took us no time to cut everything out for her to make 30 of them.
To make this you will need the following items:
Garden Green Card Stock #102584
- cut at 2" x 2 1/2" score at 3/4" from each end on the 2 1/2" side
- cut at 2" x 10" score at 3/4", 1 3/4", 3 3/4", 4 3/4", 7 1/2" and 8 1/2"
Cherry Cobbler Card stock #119685
- cut at 2 3/4' x 5"
Warmth and Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack #141991
- cut at 2" x 2 1/2" score at 1" from the top of the paper (this is especially important if you have a design on your paper)
Here is a picture of the template I made for this project:
You will notice that there are two red 3/4" circles on both of the pieces. These are to mark where you need to punch out a circle for the lip balm to slide into. Here is an awesome tip for you so they will line up perfectly. You need to put the small piece (2" x 2 1/2") on top of the long piece. Make sure that the score lines on both pieces line up. You will want it on the end of the long piece that has the shorter section before a score line. I then punched out a 3/4" circle from a scrap piece of paper and added just a little, I mean little bit of snail adhesive to it. Put it on the small piece, middle section, centered. You will then take your punch and punch through both pieces at the same time. Now they are perfectly lined up. Easy Peasy!!
Fold your papers on the score lines and burnish with your bone folder. You are going to want to make sure you have crisp lines. You will then put adhesive (I found that the Multipurpose Glue worked the best) on the section below the circle in the picture above. You will then adhere that to the longest section making sure everything is square. The small piece will fit right in underneath so you can adhere that now too.
If you look at the picture above and below you will see how it fits together. I then adhered the Designer Series Paper and the velcro dots for the closure.
I then added a bow made with our bow maker punch. These turned out so cute! I know I will be making them for little stocking stuffers this year!
Have a fabulous Monday!
Happy Stampin!
