I have to tell you a little story before I tell you about the above cards. I made the first card, the one with the designer series paper on the bottom, first and showed it to Mr. Wonderful. He told me he liked it, but thought it would look better with the patterned paper on the top. I told him I didn't think so, but I would make one so he could see the difference. I finished them, showed them to him and guess what? He agreed it should be on the bottom. LOL I like both of the cards, but I do think the one with the designer series paper on the bottom looks better. What do you think?
I told him that I was going to put this on my blog and I was going to make sure everyone knew I was right about the card. He just laughed and said, but you call me Mr. Wonderful, so they already think I am wonderful. Oh my goodness!
Our inspiration card this week is:
With the new holiday catalog coming soon, I wanted to use a stamp set that I hadn't used very often from the new catalog. So, I went looking at my stamp sets and remembered I bought the Stitched All Around stamp set because I loved the framelits, Stitched Labels that went along with it. This stamp set and framelits are available as a bundle, which means you save 10% when purchased together. Why, I haven't used them very often, I have no idea! I wanted to use one of the new designer series papers that I ordered from the promotion Stampin' Up! had last month. I decided on the Tranquil Textures because I loved how the one side had all the circles and then there was a beautiful blue paper on the other side.
To make this card you will need the following products:
Cardstock:
Night of Navy
Mint Macaron
Whisper White
Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper
- cut at 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
- cut at 3 1/4" x 3 3/4"
On the 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" designer series paper you are going to cut it from corner to opposite corner. This is going to give you two pieces, so you can make two cards. You will attach the Mint Macaron paper to the edge of the piece you just cut. Adhere both of them to the Night of Navy cardstock. Line up the designer series paper with the edges of the Night of Navy cardstock. You will need to trim your edges.
I stamped the sentiments using Fresh Fig ink on to the blue side of the patterned paper. I then used a framelit to cut out the sentiment and attached it with Stampin Dimensionals. I thought the card needed a little bit more, so I added three pearls onto the sentiment piece. The pearls really did make a difference in the final look of the card.
In only 25 more days, Erica will be moving home and boy, do we have a lot to do. When she moved to Michigan, we kinda, changed her room. Ok, we took her room and changed it into Mark's office. Now, that she is moving back, we have to change a couple of the other bedrooms around to make an office for Mark. So, in the end we will have Mark's office, Erica's room, master bedroom and guest bedroom (aka Emily's room when she visits). While we are changing everything around, we are also going through everything and getting rid of things we haven't touched in years. I can't believe how much stuff we have in our house.
I can remember when we moved into this house 19 years ago, time sure has flown, looking around thinking, how are we going to put furniture in this whole house. Now, I am thinking we have too much stuff in this house. I will have to admit, I have taken over the basement as my crafting studio and I have a lot of things for my daycare. So, if you take those two things out, there isn't quite so much. I know, I am trying to justify it, but it really isn't working. LOL
I can see a lot of Goodwill trips in the next couple of weeks. It will be nice to get a lot of this stuff out of here though. I did tell Mark that he is not allowed to touch my stampin studio though. I will do that myself. I would hate to see what he would throw out.
Thank you for stopping by today. I hope you are having a wonderful week!
