Snowman Season

I am so excited about the new products in the Stampin' Up! 2019 Holiday catalog! I knew right away the Snowman Season stamp set would be at the top of my list. If you don't already know, I LOVE SNOWMEN!!! They make me happy! I put them out with my Christmas decorations and keep all of my snowmen up until February 1st. Here in Ohio it is still winter and we definitely still get snow.

I had mentioned on Monday on my Facebook live that I would be participating in a blog hop today. Due to technical issues, I wasn't able to participate. Hopefully next time it will work out. The above card is the one that I made for the blog hop. While I was making this card I figured out a great tip using the Snowman Builder punch and the Let It Snow specialty designer series paper. I couldn't wait to share with you!

The snowman is so cute, I had to use him on my card today. Also, from the same paper pack I used the strips and mittens designs. They are actually on the same piece of paper, one design on the front and the other design on the back. This card was easy to make because I could punch out the snowman and the hat from the paper. I also punched out the arms from Early Espresso cardstock.

The snowflakes were made from a die from the Frosted Frames Dies. I then made them sparkle with Wink of Stella. Who doesn't like sparkle!

I popped up the Real Red cardstock that was cut with the Stitched Rectangle dies and the sentiment using Stampin Dimensionals. The snowflakes were adhered using the Mini Glue Dots.

Good Bye Lovely As A Tree, Hello Rooted In Nature

Today I am celebrating Lovely As A Tree! Can you believe this stamp set first came out in the Stampin' Up! 2001 annual catalog. It is hard to believe that a stamp set has been around for so long. When I first started being a demonstrator for Stampin' Up! I ordered this stamp on my first order. I loved it then and still do. I am going to miss this stamp set.

I promise I have made a lot of cards with this stamp set that weren't Christmas. I used it a lot before I started my blog on different projects, but I don't have pictures of the projects.

Since we are saying goodbye to Lovely As A Tree, which I love, we need to say hello to Rooted In Nature. I know if I needed a tree for any of projects I would go to Lovely As A Tree, but now I go to Rooted in Nature. Christmas Tags

Christmas is only 6 days away! YIKES!!! Do you have your Christmas presents wrapped? Do you need tags? I have 6 tags that will make any present look even more special! Every year I have a Christmas tag class and these are the tags that we made this year. We had such a great time at our class! I know I am probably weird, ok I know I am, LOL but I get sad when my Christmas card classes and tag classes are finished for the year. I love having the group of ladies coming to my studio every month.

Merry Christmas Monday Week #7

I saved my best project for last the Merry Christmas Monday project of 2018! I made my first shadow box card! I saw a regular folded card made with the Winter Woods stamp set from the holiday catalog and they embossed the trees in white. That got my creative juices flowing and I knew what I wanted to do, but I needed to figure out how.

I got on to YouTube and saw a tutorial from Dawn Griffith on how to do a shadow box card. I watched her make one and went from there on how to design my card. Thank you for Dawn for sharing your directions!

Isn't the side view so awesome!!! I was so excited when I finished this card, that I had to run upstairs and show it to Mr. Wonderful and Erica. I have to say, I think I impressed them with this card! Yay!!! This card will lay flat so you can put it in a normal size envelope.

Here is a close up of the front of the card. On this piece I stamped the trees with Versa Mark and then used Clear Embossing Powder to give them that shine. On the inside of the card, I used Night of Navy ink to create the background and then used White Embossing Powder on the trees.

For my snow I did use the retired white velvet paper that was in the holiday catalog. You could use the Sparkle Glimmer paper that is in the annual catalog. I made this card about 2 months ago and the paper was available at that time. It has been hard waiting share this card with all of you. The trees in the Winter Woods are so beautiful. It doesn't matter if you stamp them with ink, or emboss them with different embossing powders, they are still beautiful each and every time. I am so excited that this stamp set is carrying over into 2019!

Whisper White

To cut the opening I used the Layering Square Framelits to create a rectangle. In the new Occasions catalog there is Rectangle Stitched Framelits that I can't wait to try. I used the Metallic Edge Ribbon in Whisper White to wrap around the front of the card. I then took another piece of the ribbon and used it to tie a knot.

I really, really, enjoyed making this card and have already come up with ideas to make another one with this shadow box type of fold.

Night In Bethlehem

I had a request at one of my Christmas classes for a card using the Night In Bethlehem stamp set from Stampin' Up! The first place I always go to is Pinterest and then check Google images for inspiration. This card is inspired by many different cards. I love how it turned out.

For the background I used the Tufted embossing folder. I then used the Layering Circle Framelits and Stitched Shapes Framelits for the background of Mary and Joseph. I stamped them with Night of Navy ink and cut them out using the Bethlehem Edgelits. I used the same edgelits for the star which I cut out of the beautiful Silver Foil Sheets. Both of these cutouts are popped using Mini Dimensionals. They are perfect for little projects or sections that need just a little dimensional. You no longer have to cut the normal dimensionals in half.

To make sure I got a solid image on Mary and Joseph I used our new Stamparatus. I am not sure I stamped without this product! It is so nice to have things perfectly lined up and if you don't get a solid image, you just stamp it again. It will go perfectly over the top of your first stamped image. Yay!!!

The sentiment is also stamped with Night of Navy and comes from the same stamp set. I finished off the card using Rhinestones in different sizes. Remember you always want to do things in odds. So, I have added 5 rhinestones.

Snowflake Showcase Card

The Snowflake Showcase promotion is ending on Friday, November 30th, so I wanted to make another card to show you how beautiful the products are in the special offer! When I started playing with the Snow is Glistening stamp set the only thing I knew was I wanted to use the Christmas tree. Other than that I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do.

I first started with the snowfall on the top by stamping it with VersaMark ink and adding White Embossing powder.

I stamped the Christmas trees three times. First, I stamped the outside trees, using a mask for where the middle tree will go, and then the center tree. I added the sentiment to a 3/4" piece of Night of Navy cardstock using the Silver embossing powder.

Merry Christmas Monday Week #3

I had so much fun making this card! I used one of my favorite Stampin' Up! stamp sets, Spirited Snowmen. I know you are all in shock that one of my favorite stamp sets has snowmen in it. LOL I made this card for Mr. Wonderful for our 30th anniversary in October. Can I tell all of you how hard it has been for me to not share this before now! I knew I wanted to use it in my Merry Christmas Monday series, so I have been patiently waiting until now.

I get so excited when I have a card that I really love and want to share it with everyone. It has been killing me to keep quiet and if you know me, that is very hard for me to do. But, I did it! Yay!

On this card I used a few different techniques. The first one is masking, which means that you are covering up certain areas of your projects so you can only work on a particular area. Such as the moon and the snowmen. For the moon I punched out a 1" circle (keep the paper you punched the circle out of ) and adhered it to the Whisper White paper with repositional tape where I wanted the moon to be.

I stamped the snowmen on the Whisper White paper and also stamped one on a scrap piece of paper. I cut out the one on the scrap piece of paper and adhered it over the image I stamped on my project piece of Whisper White paper. Again, I used the repositional tape to adhere it. Using this tape made it so much easier to take it off my project.

I then added the blue sky on the Whisper White paper using a combination of Balmy Blue and Night of Navy ink with sponges. When I was finished I took off the 1" circle and snowmen. Using the piece that I punched out the 1" circle from I adhered it so that the circles are lined up. The circle on the paper and the one piece of paper I punched it out of. I used Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry to create the moon.

Another technique I used was with the White Frost Shimmer Paint. It is on the snow, snowmen and sporadically on the sky and moon. On the snow and snowmen I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter after I put on the shimmer paint. This gave the card a little bit of texture.

I used Stampin Write markers to color the snowmen and Whisper White Craft ink for the snow in the sky.
