February 2021 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Projects

The Bouquet of Hope Paper Pumpkin kit for February 2021 was a fun kit to create alternative cards with.  The above card is the only one that I made the way the kit was suppose to be made.  I know, surprise, surprise, surprise!  

 

This is what was included in the kit.  You had enough supplies to create 9 cards.  You could definitely make more than 9 if you cut up some of the card bases and used the stamp set.  I did a combination of both.

I have to say, the two cards that have the strips of the different pieces of papers are my favorite.  I cut up two card bases, the Merry Merlot flowers and the Just Jade stripped, and used the Bumblebee pieces that were included in the kit.  The kit came with 3 Bumblebee pieces, so I only had 1 left after I did the first card (top right).  So, I cut the piece with stripes of paper down to 3 3/'4" x 5" and added a layer of black cardstock.  That way I could use only one piece of the Bumblee, which I put in the center of the paper. 

The bottom left card is a layout that I saw online.  I stamped the image in Memento ink and colored it with my colored pencils.  I tried to do the same colors as the flowers that are in the bouquets include in the kit.  The top left card is the same layout that I did for one of my cards at my Holiday Extravaganza in September.

On the top right hand card you will see that I took the gold doilie and turned it over and used the white side.  I didn't want the cold color on this card, but loved it as white.  The bottom left card I added a layer of Merry Merlot to a Basic White thick card base and cut up one of the Rococo Rose card bases to put on top of the Merry Merlot.  

On the bottom right card I added the coordinating Flower and Field designer series paper in the Sale-A-Bration brochure.  This card I did see online and it reminded me that we had the coordinating paper.  I loved it so much, I made it mostly like the creator did, but changed it up a little bit.  I don't remember who the creator was as I forgot to write it down

I still had some leftover pieces that I could have made more cards with, including one of the Just Jade card bases.  I ran out of time to create anymore while I was working on them.  I kept the pieces so I can always go back and play later.

January 2021 Paper Pumpkin Alternative Projects

 

Happy Valentine's Day!

I hope all of you have a wonderful Valentine's Day and feel the love that I am sending out to all of you!

Last weekend I was at a scrapbooking retreat with my dear friend Cathy Dawe.  I had so much fun and realized how much I miss scrapbooking.  I am definitely going to be doing more of it in the very near future.  I will be sharing with all of you what pages I create. 

One of the projects I worked on was the January Paper Pumpkin kit, which had Valentine's cards as the project.  You also had the option to add on little boxes to make treat holders. 

Here is a picture of the 60 that I made for a nursing/rehab center residents.  I ended up making 20 more for the workers at the center.  They were so excited when I dropped them off yesterday.  

You know me, I couldn't make the projects the way they were designed, I had to change them.  I got inspiration from many places online for these projects. Some of them, I loved so much that I case'd (copy and share everything) them and some I created on my own.  I had so much fun making the alternative projects below.  

In this picture there are three of the cards I made and a treat bag.  The treat bag was made using one of the card bases.  I saw it online and knew I had to try it.  I couldn't believe how easy it was.

June 2020 Paper Pumpkin - Sunshine Box

Have you ever met someone new and connected so fast, that it was like you knew each other forever.  I have met such a person.  Her name is Diane and she manages the hotel where we had a block of rooms for Emily and Jeff's wedding.  When I saw the Stampin' Up! June Paper Pumpkin, I knew I wanted to make the sunshine box for her.  

With everything going on in the country right now, Emily and Jeff decided to delay their big wedding until next summer.  They are still getting married on Friday, but with only immediate family.  It will definitely be a lot smaller, but still special for them.  Jeff's mom and I are trying very hard to make it as special as we can for both of them.  

Diane has gone out of her way to help us with things for the wedding before it was delayed and since.  We can't thank her enough for everything she has done for me and Emily and Jeff.  If you ever have need a hotel in Tomball, TX I highly recommend the Hampton Inn.  The hotel is beautiful and I can't say enough good things about them.  

I made 4 of the cards from the kit the way they are designed.  Then I went a little crazy with creating different things for the sunshine box for Diane. 

The project on the left is a notebook.  I made a cover for a pad of paper using the front section of one of the cards and the accessories from the kit.  The project on the right is a gift card holder.  I found the designer series paper from my retired stash.  It is from the Tropical Oasis designer series paper from the 2020 Janauary - May mini catalog.  It was perfect for this project.  I also used a small piece of designer series paper from the Artistry Blooms paper pack in the new annual catalog for the pen.  The colors coordinated so nice. 

I love how you can use one product from one suite and it coordinates with another suite.  That is one of the biggest reasons why I love Stampin' Up!  Everything coordinates!

I have been getting Paper Pumpkin on and off for years.  Lately, the kits have been so awesome, that there are some months I buy more than one kit.  Like this month.  You always have product left over, but what do you do with it?  I had a lot of the paper pumpkin boxes sitting around my craft room taking up a lot of space.  I needed to come up with a better solution.  

This is one of the bags of boxes I hadn't thrown out yet.  There are 20 boxes in this bag and I had already thrown out at least 10 more before I decided to take a picture. 

So, what did I come up with for storage?  In March and April, Michaels was having big sales on storage containers.  I went online looking for ideas, using some of their products.  I saw a post from someone, I don't remember who, about the Photo and Craft Keeper.   It was perfect for what I was looking for and it fit into my 4 cube stand.   

It comes with 16 small cases, they hold 4" x 6" photos, and are the perfect size for your leftover Paper Pumpkin supplies.  Now, sometimes I couldn't fit the extra envelopes in the boxes and I just laid them on top of the small cases.  

I labeled each one of them with the month and year of what supplies were in them.  On some of the cases, I could put more than one month in them.  I have already filled up two, now I need to go get my third one.  What I love about these is the stamp sets fit perfect in them with the flyer from the kit.  

I was able to go from all of these boxes, plus 10 more, down to two storage containers.  Yay!!!

November 2019 Paper Pumpkin With Alternative Projects

I have one word for this months Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin kit.  WOW!!!  I love the tags and how you can use them in other projects too. 

This is how the kit is designed, 4 different tag designs and supplies to make 6 of each design.  

These are my alternative projects that I made with the Paper Pumpkin kit.  The card on the right is from the October Paper Pumpkin kit.  I added a dear from this month's kit.  I love how it looks.

October 2019 Paper Pumpkin With Facebook Live Video

Oh my goodness!  The Stampin' Up! October Paper Pumpkin is absolutely gorgeous!  I can't wait to make more of them.  I usually don't make more than one or two of the projects the way they are suppose to be made.  I am always changing them or creating something totally different.  Not this time!  I want to make them just like the kit says to do it.  

There are three different layers on this Christmas card that really make this card.  You have the base of the card with the two trees and the background colors.  Your next layer, popped up with Stampin Dimensionals, is the snow and birch trees.  The third layer is the sentiment, also popped up with Stampin Dimensionals.  

I had so much fun creating my alternative project, a shadow box.   It has been quite a while ago since I created one.  I had to go back and read my old blog post to see how to make it.  LO  If you would like to see it go to Shadow Box. 

I started this project with an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of Night of Navy cardstock.  

Mary Ann Rossiter, a fellow demonstrator, had put the directions on Facebook on how to make a shadow box.  Here is the picture Mary Ann put on Facebook.

Here is the video I made during my Facebook Live on Monday.  I shared how to put the kit together and how to make the frame for the shadow box.  

 

I have a tip for you on how you can get more out of your Paper Pumpkin kit.

If you have the In The Woods dies, you can cut out two more trees from the section that is left over from the birch trees in the kit.  You now can make more Christmas cards or cards for other occasions using the trees.  I love that they have glitter on them.  

In November Stampin' Up! Paper Pumpkin will have Christmas tags that coordinate with the October kit.  Each kit is all inclusive, so you can get one without the other.  I have to say, I can't wait to see what the kit is going to be.  I bet it is going to be just as beautiful as this one.   This kit will have 24 holiday-themed gift tags of 4 various sizes and designs.

September Paper Pumpkin With Facebook Live Video

I love this kit so much I ordered 4 of them!  I am not a person who likes skeletons, skulls or any of the other types of scary Halloween items.  I go towards the scarecrows and pumpkins.  I think it is from working with children for almost 31 years, but even as a kid I wasn't into it.  

When I saw this kit I thought I wouldn't like it, but was I wrong!  I love it!  I had so much fun playing with it and creating these cards.  You know how I love how Stampin' Up! demonstrators share their creations with each other, which was what I needed for this kit.  Not that I couldn't have created my own designs (I did on one card) I just didn't have the time this week.  My Holiday Extravaganza is on Saturday, so my stampin studio has just been a little busy and hectic.   I found two of the cards online and changed them up a little bit to fit my style.  

The first card was originally created by Dana McClelland and this is my take on it.

On Monday night I did a Facebook live showing how to make the projects in the Stampin' Up! July 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit and also alternative cards.  For the alternative cards I used supplies from the kit and also from the coordinating suites in the annual catalog.  The suites that this kit coordinated with are: Come Sail Away, Garden Lane and Woven Threads.

June 2019 Paper Pumpkin

The June's Paper Pumpkin had these adorable little note cards that came with a pouch for you to store them in.  They are the perfect size to have in your purse when you need a little note to thank someone, for encouragement or to help cheer someone up.  I was so excited when I heard about the little cards, because I always have little cards in my purse to hand out to people.  These will be perfect for the summer.  The above picture are the alternative projects I made with the Paper Pumpkin kit on my Facebook Live on Monday night.

The cards above are made the way the kit was designed.  In the center is the adorable pouch to store the cards in.  The pouch  will prevent your cards from getting damaged or ruined.  

I had a lot of fun making these and had so many supplies left over that I could make all of these again and still not use up all of the supplies.  I love that!  I did a Facebook Live on Monday to show how to create all of the projects.  I will let you know that it is long.

I can't wait to go back and create some more cards with the left over supplies I have.  I will definitely make up some more of the little cards so I can hand them out to people when I am out.

May 2019 Paper Pumpkin

My Facebook live this week was putting together the May Paper Pumpkin that was designed by Shelli, the co-founder of Stampin' Up!  This kit was so fun to play with!  I created 7 additional cards and still had supplies left over. 

Actually, I ordered two kits, one for me to play with and one to share will all of you on my Facebook live.  After I made the cards from the kit, I had enough embellishments to make the same exact number of cards again.  The only things I used from the second kit were the card bases, the feathers and some of the flowers.  Everything else came from my first kit.  Imagine what you could do with the left overs.  

I have to say I love the stamp set that is included in this kit.  The font is beautiful!

The only stamp set that I used that wasn't in the kit was the lighthouse from the Sailing Home stamp set.  

At the bottom of this post  are the products that I added to create the cards in my video.

I am going to be doing a monthly Facebook live for Paper Pumpkin.  I will be honest with you and say that June's kit Facebook live will probably not be until July 8th.  I am going to be out of town a lot between the time I receive my kit and July 8th's Facebook live.
