Welcome to our Stamp 'N Hop blog hop! This month our theme is masculine projects. You have just come from Vicky Wright's post, isn't her project beautiful!
The other day I was in the mood to color, so I went through my stamp sets and picked out a couple to use. I didn't have any particular style in mind, I just wanted to color. I colored some other images, but I kept looking at this one from the Heartland stamp set. This barn reminds me so much of the farm where I grew up. Since our theme was masculine, I thought of my dad right away. He would have loved this card.
When I first started designing the card, I had just the black cardstock over the image, but it was missing something, I just didn't know what. I didn't want to use an embossing folder, I wanted something different. I was looking at my designer paper, seeing if I could get any ideas there, and that is when I saw the Wood Textures paper. Once I found the paper, then I had to decide which one to use. There were so many that would have worked, but I like how this one has some brown, black and gray colors in it. I have all of those colors in the image, so it was the perfect one to use. I love how it makes the barn image really stand out.
I used our Watercolor Pencils with the Blending Pens to color the image. Remember, when you use watercolors you need to Stazon ink when you stamp your images. Otherwise, your stamped images will bleed into your coloring.
For the Happy Birthday sentiment I used the Sunshine Sayings stamp set and stamped it with Real Red ink on Crumb Cake cardstock. I cut it out using the Layering Oval Framelits.
