On Saturday my good friend, Stacy, had a workshop and the theme was Valentine's Day. Stacy loves, loves, loves Valentine's Day. When I looked at the 2017 Occasions catalog and saw the Sending Love Suite with the Sealed With Love stamp set, Love Notes Framelits, paper, ribbon and embellishments to all coordinate, it was the first thing on my order. I really like this suite, you can use it for more than just Valentine's.
I saw a card like this with the heart strips on Pinterest, but it didn't say who made it. Thank you whoever it was for this great idea. When you look at this card you may think that it is a difficult card to make, but it really isn't. The thing that takes the longest is to cut out 9, three of each color, heart strips, and that doesn't take long.
To make this card you will need the following supplies:
Chocolate Chip Cardstock #102128
- cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" score at 4 1/4"
- cut 3 at 1 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Pink Pirouette Cardstock #111351
- cut at 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
- cut at 3 1/2" x 4"
- cut 3 at 1 1/4" x 5 1/2"
Sweet Sugarplum Cardstock #141418
Whisper White Cardstock #100730
- cut at 4" x 5 1/4" for the inside of the card
The first thing you need to do is to cut out your strips. Here is a picture to show you how to put the framelit on the paper so that they are all even. You will want to center the framelit on the paper from the top to the bottom. You will cut out 3 of them from each color.
To get started on the heart strips you are going to lay your 3 1/2" x 4" piece of Pink Pirouette cardstock with the 4" side on the top. You take your first strip and put it at a diagonal from the top left corner to the bottom left corner. You will adhere that one, but make sure you are only putting adhesive on the edge of the solid part of the strip. This is the section on the left hand side in the above picture that does not have the framelit on it. You need to be able to tuck the next piece under the first piece.
Take your second piece and adhere it under the first piece alternating your hearts. Continue doing this going up to the right hand upper corner and then going down to the bottom left corner. Make sure you are covering the piece of paper underneath. You don't want that showing through.
At the end you may have a little section that needs to be covered. If you look at my card you can see in the upper right hand corner there is just a tiny piece of the Sweet Sugarplum paper. I did the little pieces after I had trimmed the paper and used scraps. When you are finished, make sure you press on your paper to adhere the strips firmly. Then flip over your paper and trim the edges. Your scissors will get sticky from this. I have an old pair of scissors that I only use for projects like this one.
Before you adhere this to the large Pink Pirouette paper, doing your stamping. You always want to stamp first then adhere your paper. If you make a mistake, and trust me I make a lot of them, you just flip your paper over and use the other side. Once you have the finished strips adhered you then add your ribbon before you adhere the whole thing to the Chocolate Chip card base.
I hope my instructions make sense to you. If you have any questions, please let me know. I will be happy to help you.
Today we have the plumber coming to look at the pipes in our basement. When our house was built 17 years ago, they didn't pipe it for a water softener. So we have only had our hot water softened all of those years. We have a finished basement and to fix it you have to cut into the ceiling. Well, in that time we have gone through 4 dishwashers, numerous expensive filters on our refrigerator and too many times to count having to change the inside mechanism on our toilets. This is the first plumber who told us all of this is caused by the cold water not being softened and it really needs to be fixed.
So, he is coming today to figure out how long it is going to take and when they can do it. Usually it isn't a big issue, but my craft room is in the basement and all of my stuff is right under where they have to cut into the ceiling. That means I am going to have to move all of my stuff out of the way so they can work. This is going to be a lot of work. :(
I am going to try and get my blog post done and scheduled before they start working so you won't miss any post. If however, there is a few days that you don't hear from me, that is why. I really hope it isn't too much of a mess and not too dusty. It will however, be very nice to have all the water softened in our house.
Have a fabulous week!
