Today is my sweet mom's birthday!!!!! I wish I could be with her, but I will get to see her in June for a couple of days. I try to talk to my mom everyday and sometimes multiple times a day. She is my best friend and means the world to me! Sometimes it is very hard being 8 hours away from family and this is one of those times. Roses are my mom's favorite flower, so of course I used the Rose Wonder stamp set and matching framelits to make this special card for her.
I saw this technique on a fellow demonstrators blog, Dawn Griffith, and fell in love with it. I used the Crystal Effects to give it a glossy look. It is hard to see in the photo, but it is absolutely beautiful in person.
Dawn used black card stock for her outline, and if anyone knows my mom, knows she HATES the color black. I tried different combinations of colors and ended up liking the melon mambo and mossy meadow colors together best.
To make this card you will need the following measurements:
Melon Mambo card stock #115320
- cut at 5 1/2" x 8 1/5" score at 4 1/4"
- a piece of paper to cut out the big rose framelit
Mossy Meadow card stock #133676
- cut two pieces at 4 x 5 1/4" - one for the front and one for the inside
- a piece of paper to cut out the big rose framelit
Pink Pirouette card stock #111351
- a scrap piece of paper for the saying
Watercolor Paper#122959
Whisper White card stock #100730
- cut at 3 3/4" x 5" this is for the inside of your card
To make this card I cut out 2 roses from the Rose Garden framelits. Cut one from melon mambo and one from the mossy meadow card stock. Lay them on top of each other, make sure they are lined up, and cut them both at the same time. You will want to cut where they leaves meet the flower.
I used the Basic Gray Archival Ink and stamped the image on the Watercolor Paper. I used Pink Pirouette and Pear Pizzazz to watercolor the flower and leaves. You need to let it dry completely before doing the next step.
Using Crystal Effects outline the stamped image, make sure you put it on all of the lines of the image. Lay the outline on top of the stamped image. I used my paper piercing tool to push down the cut image into the Crystal Effects. One it is secure fill all the open area with the Crystal Effects. You will need to let the drive for quite a while. I let mine dry overnight.
I used fast fuse adhesive to attach the watercolor paper to the green paper. You are going to need a strong adhesive to make sure it stays attached. I then stamped and cut out the saying from the same stamp set.
Here is the picture of the inside of the card.
I used this flower to also stamp in the outside of the envelope. I try to make sure I decorate my envelope when I make my cards. Just a little something to make it look pretty.
This is the same card that I demonstrated at a workshop using pink pirouette and black. These are the same colors that Dawn had used on her sample. Thank you Dawn for sharing your design with us!
I hope my mom has a fabulous day and likes her card. Love you mom!!!!!
Have a fantastic day!
Happy Stampin!
